Common questions

Pricing, Straight Up

How do quotes work?

We look at the job, either on site or by phone for simpler work, and give you a written price before anything starts. Once you've signed off, that figure holds even if the job runs longer than planned, and anything genuinely unforeseen gets talked through with an updated number before we carry on.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. There's no call-out fee for a quote, whether it turns into a booking or not, and no charge just for us to come and take a look.

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

It's a discount off your first job with us, applied to the final invoice. Mention it when you call and we'll make sure it's factored into the written quote.

How do I pay?

Standard payment methods are accepted once the job's complete and signed off. The price you agreed to on the written quote is the number on the invoice, nothing added, and nothing hidden in a follow-up bill later.

Common questions

Licensing and Safety

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and are members of Master Electricians Australia, with full insurance behind every job, and the licence is checkable directly with NSW Fair Trading if you'd like to verify it yourself.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

A safety switch cuts power fast if it detects current leaking somewhere it shouldn't, protecting you from shock. Older Waitara homes without one are a common upgrade we're asked to do.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

No. Electrical work in NSW requires a licensed electrician by law, both for safety and because unlicensed work can void insurance and fail a compliance check later.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

It's the Australian and New Zealand wiring standard every electrical job is measured against, covering everything from cable sizing to how circuits are protected. Every job we complete is wired to meet it, no exceptions, whether it's a single power point or a full switchboard upgrade.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

What happens after I call?

We talk through the job over the phone, book a time that suits you, and turn up ready to quote it on the spot. Nothing gets ordered or scheduled until you've seen the written price and agreed to it, so there's no pressure to commit on the call itself.

Do you work weekends?

Standard bookings run through the working week, with genuine emergencies covered any time, day or night. Tell us what suits when you ring, and we'll fit around it where we can.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, exposed wiring, sparking, or a total loss of power to the property are the clearest examples. If you're not sure, call and describe it, and we'll tell you honestly.

How fast can you get here?

Response is often same or next day for a standard booking, and we prioritise anything that sounds genuinely urgent when you describe it.

Common questions

Local to Waitara

Do you know Waitara's housing stock?

Yes. Waitara runs from period brick homes on the quieter streets to newer apartment blocks close to the line, and the jobs we see differ a lot depending on which one you're in, from ageing switchboards to shared-riser wiring.

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Yes, both are common around Waitara given the ongoing development near the station precinct. New wiring, added circuits and full switchboard upgrades are all routine for us.

How local are you, really?

We work Waitara and the surrounding Hornsby area as a regular part of our run, not as an occasional add-on. It's genuinely part of the territory we cover week to week.

Do you work on heritage or strata properties?

Yes. Older character homes on Waitara's quieter streets and the strata blocks near the station both come up regularly, and each brings a different set of considerations.
